New to the forum and carnivorous plants. Had a VFT many years ago but didn't research proper care. Fast forward to now, I rescued a VFT from a grocery store death cube as a care project for my young son and me. As I started researching care, it has quickly consumed much of my attention, and I am planning a container bog this coming spring and a ping terrarium in the near future as well.

I am excited to keep learning and amass a nice collection of these awesome plants.

Now you need to get some tropical ones like nepenthes or sundews for inside. That way you can enjoy them during the cold months too while the others are sleeping. Also they are super easy for beginners too

That's why I'm looking at a ping setup. I had never heard of those before recently and became obsessed.

Nepenthes are cool too, but not sure how the wife would feel about them inside. Might have to settle with the pings and sundews in a tank in the man cave lol. The future is bright though, because when I take on a new hobby, I tend to go in head first without looking back haha.

If you're talking about the typical "indoor" pings (Mexican) and sundews (sub-tropical), they should grow perfectly well in typical household conditions - providing your corner of Indiana isn't particular lacking in humidity. No tank required. You just need a tray and a respectable growlight over it.

Our summers are definitely humid. The tank would be more for display purposes and some protection from the house dehumidifiers. I'll probably end up with the popular Yescom 225 panels for lighting. Once I graduate nursing school here in a few weeks I'll likely be rewarding myself with some plants.
