So, I was harvesting a few drosera intermedia seeds.

I crushed them up and made sure to roll the pods between my fingers to crack them open.

It all goes into my seed strainer, aka fine mesh tea steeper.

And I sift out all of the large pieces, leaving behind the seeds and the smaller chaff.

I shake the paper with the seed on it from side to side, working the seeds loose from the chaff. Tilting the paper let's the seeds roll down but the chaff stay behind.

Then they get packaged into a seed envelope to be divided up later.

Lol I was about to ask the same question :D

Mine only got 5 each at the most this year, resulting in maybe 15 - 20 at the max.

They ought to grow pretty well up in Georgia.

Mine sure do - I have to keep them separated from the other plants so they only hitchhike in other nidi pots!

@Panman, what seeds usually work good with the tea strainer? I'm mostly interested in how it works with drosera seeds. Thanks!

I'm not Panguy (obviously), but I do the same thing. This procedure will work for most drosera and many other carny plants. Tea strainers aren't all uniform, so there may be some that work where others don't. Regia is about the biggest that mine will work for.

I've done intermedia, capillaris, and capensis in it. I also use it to filter fine debris from sarracenia seeds.

I know Panman's glad you're not him, that'd get a tad confusing....like if you wanted to talk to Panman, but being Panman you couldn't find him anywhere. And then again Panman could start looking for you and KABOOOMMM!!!!!!...he can't find you 'cause he's you, or you're him , or, well, you get the point.

Ok, it sounds like it'll pretty much do what I'd need it to do. Right now I've got some capensis seeds I want to process. Using a small piece of paper to sift and roll seeds downhill on another piece of paper is getting...old.

Sounds like it'll work. I think I've got one of those round "balls" that you put the tea in and dunk...I'll check it out! ;)
