I may have overgeeked myself on this one, but I came up with a Word template to help with the oragami seed envelope.

1. Update the document with the name and date of your seeds. Print it out and cut on the lines.

2. Fold in the top line of the name box.

3. Flip it over and fold both sides in the lines on the side of the name box.

4. Tuck one of the sides into the fold of the other.

5 . Add your seeds to the pocket formed in the top.

6. Fold the bottom up until it reaches the bottom of the triangle flap.

7. Tuck the flap into the folds of the side pieces.

8. Send it to ChefDean and make him very happy.

And it is a guide for the folding? That's next level genius.

Great job!
Downloaded it and tried opening in Open Office.
Here is the result.
Sigh....
I'll send it to my wife's PC, I think she has Microsoft Office on her machine.
Or if I'm doing something wrong, stupid, or both, pop in and let me know.
Thanks,
Mike

Just downloaded it and checked on Microsoft Word -- it works fine for me, so maybe that was a formatting thing with Open Office.

It does use a text box so I don't know if it will work with OpenOffice. I'll try to play around with it later and get an OpenOffice version. To change the information that is in there, just do a search and replace. That will save you a bunch of typing.

I sent the Template file to my wife.
Her PC, running MS-Word, opened it perfectly.
So the problem is with Open Office.
I'll keep plugging away on it.
Thanks for a helpful upload.

ChefDean, maybe you should make original post and template a Sticky in the SeedBank forum?

This is really great! Thanks for creating this and sharing with everyone!. I am going to also look at it from an Open Office perspective. I am using that to track my grow list and this would be a great addition.

I just tried it with OpenOffice 7.0.1 and got this:

The text frame is present, but the text itself isn't aligned with the frame. I found how to rotate text 45 degrees in Calc but not in Writer, still looking for a fix.

Okay, so I gave up chasing the text rotation problem in OpenOffice Writer and recreated Panman's file in OpenOffice Draw (see attached). Text rotation was a snap there. I did a few test folds using Panman's directions, and they worked perfectly.

When you click on the text to edit it, the text will change to horizontal. When you're done, click on an empty part of the drawing, and the text will revert to a 45-degree angle and center on the rectangle.

Give it a try and let me know if you run into any problems.

This is great stuff! The only suggestion I have is to add the written instructions in the blank area at the bottom of the page.

Bumping this up for some of our newer people who may have not seen this. Also, here is a link to a PDF copy of the template. You can't fill in the text, but you can write it in after you print it.

Has anyone tried it in LibreOffice? I will try when I get home, if not. I think it branched off from OpenOffice a few years ago.
