Looks like I'm upping my CP game!!! I got a portable water distiller. They claim it produces up to 8 gallons a day. If I can get at least half of that, im good!!
We shall see.

Hope it works out great for you. Grab a TDS meter and make sure it's doing its thing. If you find you need more, look into reverse osmosis systems. Even with my screw on portable RO system, I can get upwards of 5 gallons an hour.

Keep this fact in mind: with an RO filter system, only part of the water is converted to 0 TDS. In the case of the AquaticLife RO Buddie Plus, 5 gallons of tap water produces 1.4 gallons of RO; the remaining 3.6 gallons is considered "waste water". Hopefully, you can use this in a swimming pool, garden, etc. instead of just dumping it down the drain.

After assessing the production yesterday. I can make 3 gallons from the time I get home from work, till bedtime. With zero waste. I'm satisfied at the present time...

@oval, I have this one https://www.amazon.com/APEC-Countertop- ... 27&sr=8-10 but there are cheaper ones. A lot of people get the RO/DI machines because they're cheaper overall. I think marketing is a major factor there. This machine takes my 475ppm water and turns it into about 7-8ppm which is more than enough. Overall, I think the ratio of pure/waste water is actually pretty decent considering it's a countertop system. Now adays I try to use rainbarrels though because of the amount needed and the system is more like a backup.

I have that same distiller. In the wintertime, it doubles as a heater :) If your tap water is really bad (I have TDS of 350+ ppm), it's probably the most cost-efficient option.

Ooo.. I have high TDS water too. Either of you have a link? The model number isn't matching up for me for whatever reason. Could be because I'm blind.

Thanks!
