I am new to this segment (carnivorous plants) and am loving it !

My young Sarracina (?) is doing an amazing job of trapping Fungus (house plant) gnats and grocery store fruit flies.
I hate when they come, by way of the grocery store. (A recent incursion)

Yesterday, while checking up, on how things were going. I noticed, worm like movement inside the pitcher.

Then out popped a worm ? It took them many tries, falling back down into the pitcher and onto the pile (black silhouette), of flies n gnats.

Then I thought, "Is this just part of the natural cycle ?" .
Not in my house ! I used a cotton swap to remove, 3 of the escapees and drowned them.

Am I correct, in thinking this way ?

I also found an interesting article on, something similar to my situation.

Sorry, I forgot to photograph the larvae (1/8 long, thin, white with a black dot 3/4 of the way down)

Those sound more like fungus gnat larvae, they possibly may be breeding inside the pitchers. Other than that you should be fine, they will put no harm to your plant but yeah you should probably be ably to drown them without problems.

I can add a little water to these Pitchers ?
I read mixed reviews on this ?

When I first got them. This newbie did add some distilled water (no harm). Then I read, I should not. (RE: Pitcher rot)
Will try a little water.

My narrow leaf Sundew was doing well with those (gnats).

The other Sundews (Spoon, Binata (?) Branching & thread Leaf). Are all, too young and have just begun, really producing enough "Dew", to catch them.

Thx Again !

Whew,

Thx Guys !

I had several indoor "Veggie" plants, prior to getting my "CP's" . Those gnats really did not show up, before.

Then that one, "Narrow leaf" sundew, was covered with them. While sunning by a screened window sill.
I kept saying to myself, "Where did these, little buggers come from ?"

Thx again !
