My sarracenia have really started to smell this year. They are full to the top with prey and I just had a rainy week. So i am guessing that a smelly combo. I have never walked by and noticed a bad smell till this year.

I hear you. I'm going to have to give nearly every Sarr a haircut before they go into the garage for dormancy. I don't need my garage smelling like rotting bugs.

Not really on-topic, but mine is opposite. My purp-like Hybrid is full of rain but I never see anything floating in the water. A stranger thing is that it is with my VFTs that catch dozens of flies a day but still nothing in my Sarr.

I wouldn't think you would want them to totally fill, the pitchers go downhill fast. If i want a show plant i have to put cotton balls in the pitchers to keep the bugs out.

Yes but I was just mentioning that my Sarr has zero bugs in it, not even an ant or small spider.

Purps usually don't catch anything. Mine is empty besides 1 or 2 moths.
Anyway, here's my sarr volcano. The insect carcasses spilled all over the soil.

A couple of mine last year, and these are some of the smaller ones.

I can already see that I will have even fuller pitchers this year.

That is one stinky pitcher...
What kind of sarr is that?
I notice that my Alatas are capturing the most insects.

My leuco's and moorei's are stuffed full of moths; you can smell the decay when you get within arm's reach.

Nothing beats the two purp's in the bog garden at my last house, though. I had a herd of camel crickets that lived in the shed. At night, they came out and hunted for food. Apparently, the crickets found the smell of my purp's irresistible. They kept falling into the pitchers and drowning. After a couple weeks, the bog garden reeked of death when you got within 10 feet / 3 meters.

Are they meant to smell? I've never noticed any smell from them when they catch a ton of bugs. Even when I reach my head in to get a good look at them.
