Someone else posted about a late Sarr flower, and I found this hiding. RFN leuco x Adrian Slack. At 1.5 inches tall even.
Hopefully it puts up some proper flower stalks next year, it looks like it is kinda cute.

I had a Judith Hindle throw out a flower stalk last week, so I pinched it off.

I have a VFT 'King Henry' that just started to send up an Autumn scape. It did flower at the proper time this past Spring.
I think I'll Chop & Prop when it's 2 inches tall.

Do autumn flowers produce seed or are they infertile, unlike spring flowers?

I've had Sarracenia pop flowers in late summer, and they're always abnormal: the stalks are very short, and the flowers are deformed. Now when I see this, I break off the bud as soon as it clears the rhizome. Even if the flowers are fertile, the seeds wouldn't have a chance to mature before winter set in.

I do not know.
This is the first time I've run into this, that I remember.
It looks like a fine healthy flower scape.
But I doubt it'll have time to flower and produce seeds before the first frost.
So I'll take a chance and see if I can propagate this clone from a flower scape cutting.
Those have about a 50/50 success rate for me.

How is this done? I've only read about sarrs being propagated via division, leaf/pitcher pullings, and TC.

Very interesting! Seems like sarrs sometimes do that when they’re confused about the dropping temps in the fall . I have a green fused tooth VFT and a very confused P. lutea currently trying to bloom

Cut the flower scape when it's about 2 inches tall.
Put it in peatmoss or live sphagnum moss, bag it/dome it, and wait a few months.

He's talking about his King Henry VFT, not a Sarr.

I was wondering about that.

Chef, all mine that flowered this summer had very little pollen. I think they couldn’t make seed if they wanted too.
Pretty to look at, but not functional. I just kept them since I cut the ones off in the spring.
