I am experimenting with seeds, but about to go on vacation so do not want my plant babysitter to have to deal with more than bargained for. I’m getting some seeds today, how long can I just keep them “on the counter” (for lack of better term)?

Can I just leave them alone while I’m away and then start sowing them when I get back (be gone for 10 days), or should I store them in the fridge?

When stored in the fridge do I have to let them “thaw” before sowing them?

Put them in the fridge but be sure to put them in an air tight container or ziplock bag. Otherwise, the frost free cycle on the refrigerator will dehydrate them. There is no need to do anything special when you go to sow them. They are so small that they come up to room temperature quickly.

Exactly what @Panman said, put them into a ziploc bag, squeeze all the air out of it and simply place In the fridge.

Thanks guys! Do they need to go in the fridge though or are they ok in the counter?

Personally, I think putting them in the fridge is the way to go. Will leaving them on the counter cause a problem? Not likely for only 10 days.
