Welcome to the forum! I know there are several people on this forum that grow flytraps in the tropics. Your biggest challenge will be providing a dormancy period once a year. It isn't impossible, you just have to be intentional about it.

Thanks Panman! Yes ive been reading up on dormancy. I read the dormancy thread it says it's not necessary for smaller plants (yet)? My vft looks like babies? Will they automatically go into dormancy if I leave then alone? Probably not?

I'm also looking to repot the two smaller vft into one bigger pot. They look a little too small in the pot that came with the plants.

If they are being grown with natural sunlight, then they will begin to go dormant when the days get shorter. You will need to watch for decreased growth and reduce the amount of water that they get until the days start getting longer again. There is a debate as to whether or not they also require cooler temperatures for dormancy. I don't have any experience with that (my plants all go through a hard freeze) so I cannot comment.

Flytraps don't mind being crowded. They don't grow roots as lavish as some other plants so you don't need to worry about them becoming root bound. I wouldn't repot them unless you just want to change the look of the pots. If that is the case, then I would try to slip pot them, which is when you remove the plant from the pot and keep the soil intact. Then you slip it into a hole made in the soil of the new pot.

Remember, when you repot to use a media that is safe for flytraps. The most common is straight sphagnum moss or peat/perlite 50/50.

Thanks Panman. Noted all of the above! I can tell from some reading making it enter dormancy is going to be a pain here in the tropics. I don't think my wife is going to be happy with me putting the plants in our fridge. I'll save that problem for later I guess.
