Hey everyone, I know that repotting sarracenias is generally preferable to be done while they are dormant, but we've had some severe rains these past couple of weeks and I've noticed that the sarracenia I have in a plastic pot lost a good amount of media (close to half).

Also, right before the arctic storm hit us back in...February? , I repotted some of the sarracenias I had into a plastic trough. I made the mistake of breaking a part of the trough and MacGyver-ing a drainage hole with a plastic bag, as I had no other pots for the plants + divisions. The majority ended up dying, and I'm seeing that the remaining sarr that's still in said container doesn't look too good.

Is it still worth transplanting the sarr in the trough and the one in the pot into a new container or should I just wait until they go dormant once again? If anyone can recommend containers for a bog with sarrs in it, I'd greatly appreciate too.

If you try to keep the soil around the roots they should be okay. You will want to give them reduced light and keep them well watered until the reestablish themselves. I have my sarr bog in a 15 gallon feed trough from Tractor Supply. They are about $30. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/produ ... _vc=-10005

Thanks for the link, I saw that this particular trough is 8" deep. Is that enough space for the roots? When I was transplanting mine, some of the plants had roots at about a foot+. Also, drainage, did you make drainage holes or used the trough as is?

I drilled several holes about 3 inches from the bottom. This is the second year in the bog and they seem to be doing well. Some of my other sarrs are in 1 gallon nursery pots that are about as deep. I think they will put down roots as far as they can.
