Hello all,
I received a potted young vft from FTS yesterday.I do not have any trays that will fit the pot(though it looks like a 4 x 4 incher),but does anyone have a good tray size or an alternative to trays?I found this bowl,but it seems way too tall and unstylish:

Try those clear circular plastic trays you'll find in the indoor garden department at lowes/homedepot for orchids and indoor plants. I like using them because they are only an inch high so just the root tips are sitting in water when I really soak them. What you have should work fine in the mean time, just dump out excess water if it fills up too high.

Thats a great looking plant. Are you going to get it outside in the sun?

I agree,but the only reason it isn't outside is because I brought it inside for 1 minute to take pics.I normally keep it outside in full sun,all day everyday.

Oh wow,those multi pot planters are a really good idea.And yes,I will definitely have much, much more CPs by the end of summer lol.

1020 *blue* trays (I don't understand why they're labeled black when they're clearly dark blue).
If you're searching for trays on a budget, these are definitely cheaper than those fancy white trays!

Additional cheap and easy options include going to your local walmart or someplace like it and checking out the tupperware/storage bin or kitchen section if you just need something for now. I actually found several different sized trays in the kitchen organizer section! Sometimes I prefer to actually see things in person to see how they could fit. Just had to make sure that what I got was plastic and appropriate for carnivorous plants.

Yes. If you standardized the pots you will use, it helps to bring several pots with you (to fit check side by side). I use 1020 trays that are white, expensive and crappy thin. I’m looking for sturdier ones, but you can’t find them in white. If I didn’t already build carts that are built around the size of the 1020 tray, I’d switch to white pizza dough trays like Matt uses. The nice thing about 1020 trays and the hydrofarm 5x5 x7 white square pots that Matt and Leah sell is that they fit in a 2 x 4 matrix inside the trays (so 8 pots/plants) per tray. I made the mistake of buying some of the smaller size white kitchen trays from Walmart without fit checking and you can’t fit 2 side by side. So lots of wasted space. The under the bed storage trays show in the above photo is not a standard 1020 tray though.
Depending on if the plant you get is newly divided, or the height of your tray, you might need to drill / punch holes in it to have the water spill out before it would reach the top of your tray.

I did manage to find a super durable (incredibly nice) white 1020 tray from an online dealer. They are not cheap at just over 8 US Dollars a piece. But they are seriously thick. Did I mention, These babies are thick! ?
