I spent a couple of hours transplanting a few of my seedling pots into sphagnum plugs. The flytraps loved this so I hope the sarrs appreciate it as much.

I've really been liking using the adult mix for the bottom 80% of the pot and topping the rest with lfsm I've run through my mill. It keeps the top from drying in between tray watering. The milled stuff is also great for wetter mixes. I find it holds water better than peat.

Agree with not going over 20% of perlite. Peter D’Amato recommends the same. For me, my recipe is 7 parts peat, 2 parts perlite, and 1 part silica sand. Sometimes I swap ratios of sand and perlite, to match yours…

Even my filtered water has higher calcium because of the water source, which makes me hesitant to use too much perlite.

I've got to find some good, coarse sand. I hate perlite to begin with so this just makes me want to change more. Plus, I've about used up my giant bag.
