How do you know when the baby vet plant is ready to be split off? Does it just completely detach, or do you have to break it apart?

When a division reaches 1.5-2 inches / 4-5 centimeters tall, it has separated from its parent. If you unpot and peel away the soil/moss, the division will simply fall away.

Yes what Mike says every time I've repotted that's when my divisions just easily fall away.

Here's an example of dividing and repotting. Most of the divisions just came apart as I removed the moss, a few could be teased apart (they were still attached, but barely), and a few wouldn't budge, so they got left together.
The dang thing is still going nuts, so I'm going to do another dividing and repotting today or tomorrow.
