I would assume that would work, as there is a fox that comes through my lawn every night(which sadly killed a chicken once) and never had my outdoor plants attacked by a squirrel, though I haven’t used lfsm out there for very long so that may change.

I had a Maine Coon cat that was pure hell on any rodents spotted in the yard. After he killed (and ate) one of the squirrels, they stayed far away from the "lawn tiger".

So, the fox urine did absolutely nothing. I covered them in bird netting but pitchers and traps were getting caught and torn off. So I introduce you to my solution ...

The Squirrel Defense 5000 Now, it may look like an ordinary chicken coop to you, well, that is because it is. A little extra chicken wire at the bottom to keep them from going under and some extra around the gaps in the door to keep them from slipping through, and I have created a fortress that is impenetrable to any squirrel known to mankind. (Unless there are crazy squirrels in Australia. There are all kinds of weird critters there. ) Now my plants, and I can sleep quietly at night knowing that I won't find uprooted pots in the morning.

Yeah, I don't do the poison thing. I've got a bunch of critters around here that would eat the dead squirrels and I don't want that getting into the environment.

I would agree. Even if you hide the poison with PVC, there is a large danger of non-squirrels getting into it.
I.e. A deer able to knock the poison out, or the neighbors small cat.

Even if the other animals don't directly eat it, you are what you eat... in this case, poison!

I do use a rodent cage to keep my venus fly traps from getting messed with. The bottom serves as its own water tray too. It might cost a bit upfront (about $30 USD when I bought it) but it is worth it when you got some valuable plants in your posession.

If it keeps rodents in it can keep rodents (and other creatures up to the size of a human or a bear) out.

If you only have a few pots try using a big Bird cage.
