This month we are celebrating new birth. April marks the 13th anniversary of the founding of Flytrap Care Forums. Started by @Matt on April 21st, 2008 (Earth Day), the Flytrap Care Forum has helped hundreds, if not thousands, of people in their desire to grow these unique plants that we so love. We are going to celebrate the forum that we love with a contest devoted to new beginnings. I’ve hinted at it a couple of times, but this month’s photo contest is all about baby plants. Seedlings, pullings, cuttings, divisions, we want to see them all. In addition to our standard rules of one entry per person and original photos only, the plant in question must be less than 6 months old at the time of the photo. We want to see babies!

So what is this month’s prize? Nothing short of a Rehder Giant #1 flytrap.

From the Flytrap Store website:
“Rehder Giant #1 is one of three wild flytraps Matt was given the opportunity to legally harvest from Stanley Rehder Carnivorous Plant Garden in Wilmington, North Carolina, where flytraps grow natively.”
This is an awesome prize that Matt and Leah are offering and I am sure that the competition is going to be fierce so find your best baby picture and let’s go!

Ok. Let's see if I can caption this properly and do it justice. Here is a cutting of a flower stock that took root and then started to demonstrate false vivapary out of the flower bud. Truly epic.

Here is a macro shot of D. Capensis leaf cutting. This propagation was started in the test tube on 1/25/21 and it just appeared the last week of March. The emerging plant is less than 60mm ( 1/4 inch) but you can clearly understand it’s a Drosera.

Not sure if this counts but it’s a small division of FTS Maroon Monster I had sold. Looked absolutely stunning and I had to take pictures before sending it off!

My first seed grown flytrap. While its brothers and sisters have red traps, this one is very yellow. I can't wait to see if it will keep this coloration.

Hello, here is one of my flytrap crosses already plus one year old. Max registered size 0.3cm. Grows small balls as traps that look somehow spiky. That’s as close as I could get with my camera.
