It sounds like you're on the right track. It also sounds as though you may have recently potted them into that container. If that's the case, they're in shock.
Keep them damp and put them outside in an area that is shaded or receives dappled sun all day. They'll bounce back and be just fine in no time.

I agree with ChefDean. Looking closer at the picture, though, it looks like the one in the front center might be planted a little too deeply. The white of the rhizome should be just below the surface of the soil. New leaves shouldn't have to push their way up through the soil.
