Does anyone know a good link (perhaps on Amazon or Home Depot) for peat and perlite that is nutrient free?

The peat I get from Lowes is in a green an white, 3 cubic foot bale. Premier is the name.
Perlite is in a much smaller bag, and is used to create air space. Just look at it to make sure it doesn't have anything added. It should be fairly simple to find some pure perlite.

What quantities are you looking for? I go through a lot of soil, so I buy the monster bags:

SunShine 3 cu. ft. Peat Moss
$10.97

Vigoro 2 cu. ft. Organic Perlite Soil Amendment
$16.97

I've also use the Premier peat moss that ChefDean mentioned. It works fine, but I'm not a big fan because of all the twigs and sticks that I have to pick out.

The last time that I bought perlite, my local Home Depot store had changed brands to Therm-O-Rock. I've never heard of this company, but it was still plain perlite.

These brands of peat moss and perlite are safe to use:
  • Espoma
  • Hoffman
  • Sun Gro (Black Gold) -- SunShine is a Sun Gro product line
  • Vigoro
The problem that I find is many local garden centers only carry Miracle-Gro products, which are unusable due to the added fertilizer. My local Ace Hardware store carries Sun Gro products. If nothing else, you can always buy smaller bags on Amazon and eBay.
