Been growing vft for like 2 years now and still having a hard time differentiating summer leaves to fall leaves to winter leaves.

Since Im having a problem identifying them sometimes just guess when to place them in the fridge for dormancy or when to apply fertilizer to them.

If anyone kind enough to post the leaf stages of vft for reference would be helpful. Image

Even watched youtube for joels carnivore and got confused more. Image

Link for the leaf stages : http://www.sarracenia.com/faq/faq2200.html

One of my current looking nice VFT and its a seed grown one.

Nice pics! Winter leaves tend to be shorter and wider than their summer counterparts. Trap size also has a tendency to decrease in the winter rosettes. When mine started going dormant, it was pretty easy to tell. The long growth started dying back and the traps were much closer to the center of the plant. Matt at the FTS store posted a video of his on the "Winter Dormancy" thread in the forum. It'll give you a good idea of what to expect.

Mine began going dormant a little over a month ago and it's still around 77 degrees at night. I've stopped applying fertilizer at this point. If you have a DC XL or upward growing VFT it's a lot easier to discern. Either way, the plant will noticeably shrink. Good luck!
