Received this young DC XL yesterday from FTS. As always, I'm beyond impressed. Thanks Matt and Leah! Figured I would get a grow diary going for this one too since people have enjoyed my Wally and Low Giant threads.

Very nice. I have a couple of plants from FTS. I may end up purchasing a DC XL, depends on how well my current ones do. I got them from another supplier. They were starters and showing growth, but I don't know if they're going to get the massive traps they're known for. Your plant looks great! Interested to see how it comes along

In a few years you'll have more pots of them! I got one small plant from them about 5 years ago (back when they were $50 a plant) and now I have 4 pots of them. Great flytraps!

An update on my DC Xl, seems to be holding up well so far and has caught many bugs. Typicaly, the first year I own a vft it doesn't really take off, with plants I order in winter being the exception. Honestly, winter is my favorite time to order for this reason. I also notice that I tend to get bigger rhizomes in winter orders where they just take off in Spring with no setbacks.

Haha, yeah, Leah always choose huge plants to send as "starters" when they're dormant in order to avoid people who don't understand how small flytraps are during dormancy writing us to complain about the size of the plant!

Your DC XL looks great!!

Keep it a FlytrapCare forum secret!!! Seriously though, Leah pretty much always dramatically undersells our larger inventory in the spring as starter and young plants, when they're actually young-adult or mature plants. That's part of the reason we often can't offer larger plants at all. The busy season starts in March and, due to the late spring here at our northern latitude, our plants are still almost entirely dormant and don't look that impressive. So, to avoid any complaints, we sell plants that are typically at least one size up from what the customer paid for.

DC XL is honestly such an awesome cultivar.
It always produces huge traps staring Spring all the way until the beginning of Autumn.
