What is recomend? I've got orthene powder, but being marketed for fire ants I'm sure it's got additives in it. I'd be willing to bet some money that diatomaceous earth is a portion of that, which should be fine, but idk if they add calcium sulfate which might not be.

For all pests with the exception of spider mites, I use acephate (also fire and killer and maybe the same chemical as orthene powder?) It works great and I never see any side effects on flytraps and Sarracenia when using it at 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon per gallon of water and spraying the leaves thoroughly. Sundews will lose their dew for a couple of days but bounce back quickly.

Same active ingredient, however it claims it's insoluble and that it is 50% filler. I made up a few syringes so I can drip it on the growth points and monitor it. 'Insoluble filler' is usually gypsum, but could be diatomaceous earth because it is intended to be put directly on to the mound as a powder. I honestly should just do a recryst, but my beakers are in use
