Sooe pings, but not too many, can develop new plants along the edges of the leaf, as long as not too far from where the stem connection was. However, it is much more reliable to get the whole leaf. There are also a few pings that can develop new plants at the tip of the leaf.
Regarding the questionable Sethos, please consider that there are many pings and ping hybrids out there that look very similar, both in leaf, growth habit and flower. I believe we do a disservice to the developer, the hobby and the potential recipient of a plant so labeled. There are people out there that don't really care much that the plant they have is correctly named, without questionable circumstance. But others, such as myself, do care. I would label that plant as "maybe Sethos". Also consider that there is another registered cultivar, X 'Weser" that has the same species as hybrid parents that looks similar.
