Hello everyone! I recently got some sarracenia purpurea purpurea. (Yay!) It's been in the mid 90's all summer, but this week is dropping down to the low 50's and rain. Next week it will go back up to 90's again. Could the sarracenia go dormant too early with the sudden drop in temperature? And would they stop going dormant if the temperature rises?

Help! I'm addicted to carnivorous plants!

Dont worry too much, in the wild they have these sorts of temperature swings in most autumn and spring seasons, they are used to it and its what helps dormancy and growth preparations. If they are outside they will be fine. Being Purpurea they won't look any different till spring comes, don't expect too much growth now.

Odd weather may slow plant growth but should not hurt the plant, Purpurea holds its leaves all winter anyway my guess is it wouldn't even phase it.
