It looks like debris that simply got splashed up from aggressive watering, perhaps from the rain. If you can easily remove it without heavy scraping, that's probably what it is.
Otherwise, the plant looks pretty good.

I keep it in a tray of water and water the soil daily with distilled water

Flytraps don't like wet like Sarrs and dews. If you keep it in a tray, and the top looks dryish, the roots are probably in the Goldilocks zone and happy.
It can go swimming occasionally, but damp to moist is what they prefer.

If you want to stop the splatter, cover the soil with a thin layer of sphagnum moss (like putting pine straw around your bushes).

Bottom water and problem solved. It looks like debris splash.
