My unidentified Nepenthes started flowering. I'm pretty sure it's male, but I could be wrong. I got the plant at an orchids nursery, and don't know what it is.

I'm going to try and collect some pollen, but I'm not quite sure how to go about it. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. Thank you for your help.

And if anyone wants any pollen let me know, and I'll be happy to send you some.

I’ve always wanted to try some stuff with Nepenthes pollen and tissue culture. With some other plants you can get the pollen to form entire new plants with half the chromosome count. Would be interesting

^ Tried this. Nepenthes like to be diploid, or tetraploid. Polyploidy sucks sometimes, and produces weirdo plants. Androgenesis is a no-no for neps.

I can send you some pollen, if you want to try it yourself. PM if you do.

So, from what I read on how to collect pollen.
1. Collect the entire male pollen cluster as soon as it opens and store it in a sealed container.
2. Wait till the cluster dries.
3. Place the dry cluster on wax paper and shake. You can remove the remaining plant matter.

Does anyone have any other tips or suggestions for storing and collecting the pollen? I would appreciate it. Thank you.
