hi cp fans,

my greenhouse gets to hot during the day so if put a shade cloth on my greenhouse would my seeds still germinate?

Having a shade cloth or something that helps keep the temperatures cooler is a must on most greenhouses. And yes, the seeds will germinate just fine with a shade cloth on the greenhouse.

Shade cloth is usually rated by the percentage of light it blocks. I've been using 40% shade cloth and the plants seem to like that. When it was hotter, at the end of summer, I used 60% to help keep it cooler.

thanks matt,

its the middle of summer in australia at the moment so i think ill go with 50%, or maybe even 60% because my greenhouse temps can get up to 45 degrees c
does that sound ok?

Yep, I'd go with 60% if it's getting that hot. Also, you could look into some sort of misting system or even a sprinkler that you turn on manually when it gets too hot.
