That's a crazy reason "I like their hats" . I personally wouldn't recommend the army for anyone who wasn't absolutely set on it. It's a tough life going by my dad. I was set on joining myself when I was 18. After doing the interviews and tests I just couldn't help feeling it was the wrong decision it's a huge commitment and I changed my mind and haven't looked back. Are you thinking of joining when your older? The US army I mean not UK lol.

British officers aren't any nicer to troops it's just the way of all military. Break you down then build you back up hopefully stronger. I agree enjoy your freedom and your carnivorous plants.

Oh it's much worse I could tell you some horrible stories from my dad about troop treatment but most wouldnt be suitable for this forum.

Obviously this was during the 1970s and 80s probably very different from now.

You know I just remembered when I was a kid I was OBSESSED with Britain. I had a British flag case for my iPad, every time I played a war strategy game I chose Britain and I also bought a British flag and put it on a big stick and would go around colonizing peoples yards. Looking back now I cringe thinking about it lol
