Hi I’m worried that my D. filiformis Florida Red won’t produce seed on some of its’ flowers. The sepals are turning black before the ovary is pushing up above the sepals. I would take a picture but I don’t think my phone camera could take a good picture.

I pulled off the petals to collect pollen from them easier on the ones that are acting weird. I also selfed all the ones that are weird and probably a few others. After that I let them self pollinate and there is a very very very very small chance of there being intermedia and capillaris hybrids.

From what I have read, D. Filiformis Filiformis is self pollinating, I don't see any reason D. Filiformis Floridana (Florida Red) would be any different.
Removing the petals would prevent them from self pollinating. Since everything is so small in their flowers, hand pollinating can be difficult.
If you have more flowers stalks waiting to bloom, maybe let them do their thing solo. Try to mark which ones they are and see if nature does its thing.
