Hello all. First time poster here. I have a question about a D. 'Pygmy' that I have. It just started to flower but the flower stalk kind of looks pretty typical to me, I thought the pygmy one would create a flower stock composed of a single flower that's extremely stunted?

I got it from a very reputable grower, and it does seem smaller than normal. It's dwarfed by my known typicals and other giant forms. The only one that's smaller is my cup trap. I heard that once the pygmy one gets mature enough it basically ends up as a slightly smaller typical?

What do you guys think?

Yes I grow all my flytraps on a really sunny windowsill. It's not ideal but they seem to be doing ok other than not coloring up as well as they could while in the sun.

I'll probably let this flower through since the plant is healthy and I kind of want to see if it is any different from a typical flower. So far it seems more of the same, and not a single flower on a short stalk like I see on some other pygmy types.

I grew Pygmy that I acquired from a very reputable grower as well. It eventually grew into a quite large plant with a normal looking flower stalk. I tissue cultured it and all of the tissue cultured plants also got quite large. Thus, I never propagated it for wider distribution and eventually took it out of my collection entirely.

Seems pretty typical too me.

I'm going to get another pygmy one from a different vendor to see, looking at the pics this other seller's pygmy has made a flower stalk while being extremely tiny.

I got a new pygmy vft, this time with a noticeable mini flower stalk. I'll see if this one remains small over time.

So the replacement pygmy I got is now throwing up it's own flower stalk, and this time it seems more inline with what I expected for the pygmy clone, haha
