Kind of hard to tell what it is, but I would simply try neem oil before a possible infestation breaks out.

I'm not sure about using soap. I've heard that CP's react negatively to it, but I'm not entirely sure.

We're vicariously finding out that VFT's are pretty tough when it comes to insecticides. I can't find BioAdvanced 3 in 1 (formerly Bayer 3 in 1) in a hand held sprayer anywhere, but I'm using Ortho 3 in one. Basically the same thing. A topical, a systemic, and a sulphur based anti-fungal.
Light, and I mean light, spray once or twice a week and you can usually control the critters in a few weeks.

Mosquito dunks for ponds and such are great for getting rid of unwanted insects in your substrate.

I'm going to assume it's a mealybug (do not confuse with mealworm).

Is the white bug "furry"? If yes, it's a mealybug. My trap garden has them too. I have no idea where they came from since I grow mine in the middle of Los Angeles inside my 10th floor apartment.
