That dark green stuff has been growing at an alarming rate since I’ve noticed it. It’s more than doubled in one night. Does anyone know what this is?

Yeah I thought of that but It was dark greenish at the stem on that lead and also at the end so I just decided to cut it off and remove all of the dark areas around the stem. Nevertheless thanks for the info but when I was amputating that leaf I noticed there was more dark green under the already dead stubs of leaves, is this a problem?

In just an hour or so the stump has turned black and mushy looking. Is this bad?
