<< Wow! I sure hope the trap survives. :? >>

:D

I have a feeling that -- after it sucks the juices out of that delicious Vespid -- it will turn black and go to VFT heaven with a massive smile, having helped create a morbidly-obese rhizome!

...I mean, that wasp must taste like a huge, cold, creamy slice of fresh cheesecake to a VFT!

Nah -- it's a common "red paper wasp". Large and scary-looking, but generally docile and harmless.

Whew! I'm allergic to wasp stings so even a picture of a wasp makes me kind of itchy. Those stories about murder hornets/wasps really make me nervous. :?

...to take on those Asian murder wasps, it's maybe time to start working on breeding VFT's with 4-inch traps!

You would hate it at my house. Every time I go out to water my plants, the red wasps flock in for a drink. We have an understanding: You don't mess with me, and I won't mess with you (you're on your own with the plants). We've been getting along fine for years.

I never knew there were red paper wasps. They look very cool!

The giant Asian hornet is quite invasive. At over 2 inches long, they feed on honey bee larvae. A sting rapidly deteriorates tissue, turning flesh to sludge! Don't want to get stung by one of these guys!

<<"turning flesh to sludge">>

Well said! In medicine, we call this "liquefaction". Ew, guh-ROSS!!!

Brown recluses are the worst -- I've seen limbs lost because of them.

I have lots of Brown recluse spiders around my house, I've never been bitten by one though, I usually find them when I'm digging in my garden or walking on some rocks. They don't try to attack me they just run away so I don't worry about them.

Brown recluse spiders are more afraid of us than we are of them.

THANK YOU! This is why they're called Recluses. The only spiders out to get you are Atrax genus spiders, since they are easily disturbed and proactively attack to defend a burrow. Almost every other spider out there, even tarantulas, won't bite.

Plus, most people misidentify brown recluses, instead they've got Isopod Spiders, or some other large, scary looking spider.
