That Sphagnum is fine for shipping but yeah, go to a more mineral mix. Lots of things will work but what we’re going for here is a mix that will conduct moisture (not actual wetness like Sphagnum) and also allow air flow. I do find that adding a little compost to the mix does help a lot with giganteas. I use mushroom compost, only about 10% of the total mix, no need to overdo it.
