Hey all!
Sorry for this question... i know this is probably a dumb one, but i wanted to see if i can use construction sand that is been washed out by rain for like 5 years as a substitute for silica sand. I understand that this is probably dumb, but i am making a bog and the expenses are higher than expected for the soil, so i was looking to see if there are cheaper options. Thanks in advance!

What sort of builders sand is it? gritty or small particles like a sandpit? You will need to test it to find out in either case, a simple but not totally reliable method is to get two samples, put one in RO or distilled water, shake and let it stand (over a day) then test with a TDS meter to see what reading you get, the other pour vinegar over, if it bubbles it contains alkaline materials.
