Hello everybody! Does anyone know what cultivar of Venus fly trap this is? I got it from a "death tube". The tag on the bottom says, "venus carnivorous display". It is not important that I know what cultivar this is, I am just curious.

Help! I'm addicted to carnivorous plants!

Typical venus flytraps are the most common types. They are not cultivars. Typicals are just the baseline, unnamed venus flytrap.

Yes. Unless it is sold as a cultivar it is a standard Dionaea. 'Typical' doesn't mean that they are alike. It just means that they are not officially classified as a cultivar. I've got one in my bed that looks pretty unique to me but I know I haven't bought any cultivars. Honestly, I don't remember the last time I bought a fly trap. They just keep growing and dividing!

Look through the ICPS cultivars index, and see if it is unique, then you could try to register it....

Thank you all for your replies! I figured that this was a "standard" Dionaea, considering that it was only five dollars! It is still an amazing plant though.

Remember that Flytraps love tons of direct sunlight! The more you can give them, the better. If you want to ensure your plants is at it's healthiest, and adjusts from the poor conditions it was in while in the "Death Cube", then I'd slowly acclimate it to direct sun outside by putting it in indirect sun aka a shady spot for a couple of weeks.
