Hi guys,

I have bought this poor guy from a local store.
Obviously it was planted in a wrong soil and watered with tap water (i've asked about it).

So I have washed the roots with distilled water and repotted it in the same day,
and somehow it started to grow 3x bigger traps/leaves.

So I have 3 questions -
1. Is these long and big leaves a good sign? does the plant look healthy overall?
2. I see curling on some leaves, what does it mean? (It's under ~20w grow light 12hrs + on bright west window it's about ~4 hours direct sunlight)
3. Is this a B52?

Welcome to the Forum!

1) FlyTraps produce differently shaped and sized leaves throughout the year.
Summer leaves are longer and skinnier, Winter leaves are shorter and wider.
Your plant looks like it's starting to produce Summer leaves.
That's normal and OK.
2) I think the curling is due to Phototropism, leaves tend to grow in the direction of the light source.
That's normal and OK.
3) Your plant should be labeled a "Typical".
Cultivars are genetically homogeneous, all B-52s are genetically identical.
Without doing a DNA scan, you cannot be certain if an unlabeled plant is a B-52.
B-52s are not cheap and would most likely never end up in a normal retail outlet.
They are premium priced to reflect their quality, size, and rarity.

This is all just my 02¢ worth.

As Mike explained, the growth pattern of Venus flytraps changes with the seasons, In the spring, leaves are generally wider. And the length of the leaves is somewhat genetic with some plants getting very long and others staying compact. However, based on the photos of your plant, it looks to be wanting more sunlight.

It should be put outside in full sun and that will prevent most oddities with growth and minimize the chance of disease taking hold. The thinness of the leaves and the curling on the edges of the leaves is another sign that the plant isn't receiving sufficient light to be optimally healthy.
