Specifically for flytraps - has anyone successfully used a low wattage CFL successfully? What was the wattage?

I tried using an 18W at one point - my flytrap laughed at me, had a bit of spindly growth, and almost died. But there may have been other factors involved.

We've seemed to agree in our posts that people should try to get 42W 6500K for only one to three-ish pots.

Anyone have any input on this?

I think a lot of it depends on the distance its kept from the plants as well, when I first started - I used a single 23w DL (6500k) , to light a small terrarium. It grew the VFTs, and the nep fine, but the pings on the other side of the tank did suffer some. I kept the light directly above the VFTs, about 2-3 inches away.

With that being said, my most recent terrarium allows for everything to grow a lot happier with more light! 2 x 13w tubes (CW, DL), 1 x 13W CFL (DL), 1 x 23W CFL (DL).

edit - it was a 23w
