Anything is possible. Heck, the next batch of Capes you grow from seed could have one mutate rudimentary light sensors to "see" bugs. Its kids could mutate to have the ability to move its entire leaf to capture prey.
However, for just the tentacle speed, you'd probably have to time each plant for each feeding to see which plants have the fastest tentacles. Then breed the fastest plants together, grow the seeds up, and do it all over and over and over.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
It would most likely take years, but a mutation could produce one your very first time out the chute (unlikely).
Who knows, maybe you'll selectively breed a strain of Capes with Burmannii-like snap tentacles.

Can you cross a D. capensis with a burmanii? I think d. intermedia curls really fast also. I have a d. filliformis x southern cross. Its a mix of 2 sundews.
