I am now very certain that my N. Ventratata is infested by mealybugs. I have bought an insecticide/pesticide online and I will be spraying my plant ASAP. I am worried that my other plants are, or will be infested too. What should I do to prevent this and how should I treat the mealybugs?

Mealybugs are sap-drinking insects that can cause a great deal of damage in a short amount of time. They produce honeydew, which attracts ants and encourages the growth of fungus called black mold. First, isolate the plants that are infected. Before applying insecticide, physically remove any bugs and egg sacks. Make sure the bugs are killed and not displaced. Next spray off or provide a steady stream of water to wash plant. Be prepared to use several applications of insecticide to eliminate problem. Prevention--avoid over fertilization of plants. Mealybugs are attracted to nitrogen rich soil. Inspect any new plants that may have introduced mealybug. Hope this helps.
