Hi there,

I’m a new carnivorous plant owner and just bought a small drosera sundew today, but it wasn’t marked with the specific species on its information card. I’m thinking it might be a drosera afra, but I don’t feel confident enough to say for sure. Would anyone be able to confirm which species it is based off of these photos? It would be greatly appreciated!

i dont know enough to say the specific type of d. spatulata. but rim the flower stalk off and stick it in the soil beside the plant and you may get some baby sundews.
letting a sundew flower takes alot of energy from the sundew and can kill it. trim off the stem if you want it to live longer. good luck

Since when? The flower stalk is already decapitated so it won’t produce a bunch of seeds. Even if it did have flowers, Drosera don’t flower themselves to death, sure they shrink slightly, but they only flower if they got the resources

Looks like a D x 'Tokaiensis' (spathulata x rotundifolia) to me, or a "Tolkien's sundew" as Copper likes to call it lol.

It looks like the flower stalk has already broken, so it wouldn't hurt to trim it off.
