Given that it is possible to selectively breed VFT to create different cultivars of varying appearances, has anybody thought about selectively breeding VFT to increase mineral tolerance so that growers don't need to rely on RO/distilled water/rain water?

I highly doubt this would work. Flytraps evolved to grow in low nutrient soils and are so highly specialized at what they do to survive around there low nutrient conditions (catching prey) that any other way to grow them would be impossible to do.

Besides, getting distilled water isn't that difficult and flytraps practically grow themselves anyways that there really isn't a need for such a thing as "mineral tolerance".
