My wife got me a Venus Flytrap from Lowes few months back. So far, it has been growing well and I have it by a south facing window sill.

Assuming my VFT is starting dormancy based on the looks of it (see picture), I'd like to try colder dormancy temperature for the remaining winter outside or in my garage and keep it in a ziploc bag.

Would you guys recommend repotting it with fresh spaghnum moss prior to leaving it outside (as the top layer of current spaghnum moss looks "algae-ish")?

Appreciate the advice and insights!

Leave it be for now and repot at the beginning of the new growing season when it has plenty of energy stored up for recovery.

I can't personally recommend doing dormancy in plastic bags, however other people do have luck with that method. My fly traps stay outside year round (under the porch) unless I'm worried about the temperature dropping below 20F. The leaves will die if it goes much lower than that but the rhizomes always survive and provide exceptional growth come spring.
