I think this tall skinny red baby from my mixed capensis seeds is happy to have its own pot now! It's responded by making tons and tons of new leaves. It continues to be much larger than the majority of its siblings: I'm excited to see how big this thing gets.

It's probably from a 'Big Pink' x Self seed.
Those seeds are in the capensis mix, came from my 'Big Pink' which I self pollinated.
It looks like they inherited a lot of their parents' appearance.

David Flocken has been breeding capensis for several years trying to develop the the ultimate Cape Sundew.
I believe I recall him mentioning that Big Pink x Self seeds turn out looking like capensis Alba 25%, capensis Red, 25%, and some intermediate form 50% of the time.

You could call your Specimen 'Big Pink-ish'

Interesting! Remembering my punnett squares, is Big Pink a cross between a Red and an Alba?

I guess that might also explain where my buddy Largest Alba (leftmost pot) came from.

Here is a quote from Joshua Lynch, the discoverer of 'Big Pink'.

I germinated seed from my Albino cape sundew and a few of the seedlings were different. They flowered 6 months from germination when the other seedlings took 8+ months. Maybe it was a spontaneous mutation.
Maybe an unknown pollinator appeared on the scene with some excessively healthy Red capensis genes.
Who knows?
I bought my 'Big Pink' from FTK directly, a few years ago.
It flowers every year and I usually toss the seeds into the Cape Sundew variety packs.
