Hey I have two Venus flytraps growing out my backyard, and there seems to be an problem. See when I water my plants I check back to see my pot knocked over, but when I don't water my plants nothing happens. What's happening?

SQUIRRELS!

squirrels raccoons deer opossum you just have to find out what it is and make it uninviting. In the summer I keep my small cp plants on a table in a under bed bin. the higher walls wont stop small critters but the terrain it creates around the plants is very uninviting.

If you want to go hard core google "motion activated sprinkler"

I swear that squirrels are highly attracted to LFS. I think that they like to use it in their nests. I've only ever had problems when I've used it in my pots. Switched to 100% sphag peat moss and have had absolutely zero squirrel problems this past growing season.

That's a pain to deal with.

Take it from me, DON'T use LFS in pots with valuable cultivars. That's just asking for the squirrels to dig them up. Use 100% Sphag peat or a sphag peat mixture sans the LFS.

I use LFS, I don't see them digging them up just knock the pot down.

I use NZLFSM and only grow outside. Have had my share of squirrel problems.

I discovered that squirrels just want either the moisture in the moss or they want the water in the tray. They of course destroy the plants in the process.

You will need to build a cage to go over them. Weigh it down so as to not get knocked off.
