Ok explain to me how they wound up in these pots and not in my other pots. I would understand if I had a bunch of them in my other pots. I never had a bunch of grass growing in one pot and grow under peat moss which is very acidic.

Once it gets old enough it will flower, therefore will be easier to ID, but I’m telling you, it will just be some common wetland grass lol.

The acidity of the peat moss/sphagnum makes no difference...it is a grass/sedge species that grows in bogs.

Why didn’t it grow in other pots? Well it’s likely that the entire bag wasn’t covered with seeds, but they just happen to be in the part of the Sphagnum you currently used. Essentially just random chance.

The other reason why I believe it’s the seeds is, b/c they were darker and a bit smaller than the new batch of seeds I just received and the seed was attached to the bottom of the plants root, which was hard to tell at the time wether it was a root or not.

I actually do intend to keep them tho to shade the soil of my cobra lilies.

Here are the sedges that pop up in my pots. To me, it looks exactly like yours - https://imgur.com/a/uZeLy1A. If your's flowers like this we will know without a doubt. (Not that there needs to be any doubt currently though).

bad idea, the roots on sedge are aggressive and the cobra lilies will have a harder time growing among them, especially seedlings.... Just run a water pump over the top. Sedge will not provide enough shade to make a difference anyways.

You were right dude! These are sedges. I bought a app to identify what they are and it identified them as sedges. I have never seen them nor grew them before. I’m sorry I didn’t take your word. I just had to know for sure. Thanks for the help! I have good looking seedlings now, I’m glad I bought these as soon as I did!!!!

You need more direct sunlight. Don't mess with the soil or seeds. Get some air moving around it and more sunlight. It's too wet.

How are the seedlings?
How much light do the seedlings get each day?
Mine are getting 7 hours of morning light till 2pm.
I don't have it dialed in yet. Some trays look better than the others. And a few have died. But overall ok.

I think they are doing ok so far. I hope the algae doesn’t suffocate them. I moved them to an area where they can get around 4+ hours of sunlight. And I’m lightly spraying them by night. I want them to at least get a cool watering before the next day. It has been cloudy for the past couple of days. Yesterday we had a huge down poor. It filled up 3 empty kiddie pools that I use to catch rain water. We finally have quite a bit of sun today. Thank you for asking!!! =D

P.S. oh I almost forgot to mention. I emailed the guy that I bought the seeds from and said that I should sprinkle a little bit of peat moss over the algae and not to cover the seedlings. So I did that as well.
