I'm thinking of buying a little cold frame for dormancy (Flytraps etc). I will mulch around the pots. Question: for several nights of 10-20F, will covering with burlap or a blanket suffice? Is it overkill?

I'd think the mulch/burlap combination would work well enough. A couple nights of temps in the teens isn't a huge risk for flytraps and such. Each subsequent sunny day cancels the previous night's dip, you could say.

You might get away with it in zone 7.

I couldn't get away with it in zone 5 a/b.
