Heh, no, I mean the white part of the VFT that lives under the soil. If you have a piece of that, it will become a new plant.

Oh, you mean the rhizome. Yeah, that makes a lot more sense. Lol

Even the tiniest chunk of rhizome can regenerate. I’ve told this story a few times here, but a couple years ago, I had a pot of seedlings get torn up and uprooted by a raccoon. All the plants sat out in the summer heat and dessicated. I found a tiny bit of undessicated rhizome from one seedling — about 2 mm x 2 mm — and it came back and is a healthy (albeit small) red flytrap.

I broke off a junk of rizhome once when repotting. I just threw it in the moss about 1/2" down.

I had completely forgotten about it. Two months later what seemed like 100 little traps came up out of nowhere.
