Something else I had come across in my research as to why my plant didnt have traps I read that the multiple plants might choking eachother out and fighting for light. I decided that I would try splitting the plant and I think I found the issue. There were 20 plants trying to grow together! Even with all of the pots I had laying around I still had to put 4 outside as an experiment because I ran out of room. Hopefully these guys will take and soon I will have a forest of flytraps.

It was a single division that i had ordered online from predatoryplants.com. I let it grow on my back porch for one summer it was catching bugs all the time with the lantern flies eating my sugar maple.

That could have been a part of the problem, but I've seen pretty large clump of flytraps thrive pretty well even then they're super close to each other. It might have just been the general lack of light.

Your plants need direct sunlight, that's why they are growing with no traps and dividing heavily, they are fighting to survive.

Being clumped together won't hurt anything or stop them from getting sunlight.

So after a few weeks under the sun lamp and some time outside the plants are looking much happier. Theres a few small traps, even one with a bit of red on the inside. As well as new growth on almost every plant. It looks like they are going to rebound well.
