Congratulations on your first fly trap! Its been a really long time since I've ordered a fly trap online, but they should start opening once it recovers from shipping, if its given sunlight and water.

Hi! Congratulations and welcome! As he said above, they'll reopen. The traps are sensitive. They close during shipping, repotting, children in vicinity(lol) e.t.c. did you get a certain cultivar(b52, king Henry, e.t.c)?

Just give it some time to adjust to new conditions.

Sometimes this happens from shipping, too much movement, or being in those cubes from Walmart and Lowe’s.

The ones that I purchased in the cubes usually take a few days after repotting to open up. Some may stay closed and die off. Just a little bit of shipping/repotting stress.

Overall doesn’t seem to have a long term detrimental effect on the plant.

Just repot it and give it some time.

And congrats.
