So last night I noticed something has been munching on the leaves of my N x Bloody Mary and found a bug walking around but didn’t see it doing much else

Noticed the leaves have been eaten on the edges.
It was hard to get decent pictures because it kept running away from me.

Think it could be my culprit?

Or have any ideas of what bugger could do this to my beloved plant?

Blacks specks on the leaf. Eggs or excrement?

That's a Lady Bug. They do not eat plants. They eat aphids and other bad bugs.

I thought I see speckles on the back. We need a better picture of the bug.

It was night time so there’s reflection from the torch I was using to get better lighting. That bad light made it tough for a pic but it definitely didn’t have spots. Just black with a orange head.
It is shaped like a lady bug but it could very well be a leaf beetle.
Just to be on the safe side, that night I squished it and dropped it in a pitcher of the plant it was eating hahaha. Karma’s a biatch.

And since I removed it, no more leaves have been eaten so it looks to be one.

Thanks for your help :)

I agree it was not a lady bug. Sorry about the missed ID, did not see it in the first picture.
