I live in Kansas and I've never owned a vft before, so I am excited to have my first vft that I bought at Walmart for $5. I believe it is a D. typical, but the container did not specify the species. The rhizome has split twice now, but one division keeps growing black traps. It keeps pushing out new leaves, but once the small traps unfold and get much larger than 1/2 cm, the traps turn black and the rest of the leaf lasts another week or two before turning black as well. It has not been the healthiest plant, as can be expected after buying it from where I did, but I plan to expand my mostly succulent collection with more carnivorous plants.
